Bentonite Clay Masks For Glowing Skin

Coffee

Bentonite clay is quickly becoming more popular in the natural beauty world. It has a lot of excellent benefits, from containing nutrients like sodium, potassium, and calcium, to being able to remove toxins from the body and provide a clearer complexion. Here are three different masks you can make yourself using bentonite clay.

  1. Lemon Clay Mask

You will notice lemon is used a lot in natural beauty products, because it is so good for your skin! It helps to clean out pores, is refreshing, and smells great. It is also a favorite during the summertime. This clay mask is going to use your bentonite clay with some lemon essential oils, and a little bit of raw honey. You can also add some unrefined, virgin coconut oil to this mask. If you don’t have lemon essential oil, there is no reason you can’t use lemon juice in its place. Combine the ingredients and apply the mask to your skin, rinsing off after a few minutes. If you have leftovers, store it in an airtight container.

  1. Lavender and Tea Tree Oil Clay Mask

This clay mask is going to be great for your acne and breakouts, as well as detoxing your skin. It uses some wonderful essential oils, like relaxing and soothing lavender, and detoxing tea tree oil. The base of the mask is of course the bentonite clay. To make it a creamy consistency, you have your choice of ingredients. You can use virgin coconut oil that is melted, honey, or aloe vera gel. Fresh aloe vera gel directly from the plant is better, or at least organic aloe instead of the drug store variety. This is a really soothing mask, not to mention helping with your complexion.

  1. Coffee Clay Mask

If you want something a little different, why not combine the exfoliating power of coffee with the delicious health benefits of clay? This is also a great mask to gift to others since it is unique and not typically something you can find in stores. For this mask, use your bentonite clay or other cosmetic-grade clay. Add in some finely-ground coffee and essential oils of your choosing. You may also want to use some rose water or distilled water to loosen up the mask a bit. Essential oils are only used for scent, so you can opt out of using them if you prefer.

How to Minimize Dark Eye Circles

coconut oil

If you have been having trouble sleeping or are overworked, you might be struggling with dark circles under your eyes. Aside from trying to lighten them up with makeup, there are also some natural remedies you can try out. Here are some different options for minimizing those dark eye circles.

Try Using Apple Cider Vinegar

You may not think apple cider vinegar can be used on the skin, but it definitely can! This has loads of natural health benefits, similar to those of coconut oil. All you need to do is dip a cotton swab into the apple cider vinegar, or rub it underneath your eyes where you have the dark circles. This won’t remove them immediately, but if you are consistent and keep up with it daily, you will notice that they start to lighten. The apple cider vinegar will dry quickly on your skin, so there is no need to rinse it.

Utilize the Magic of Coconut Oil

This is probably not a surprising recommendation if you have ever looked up natural beauty products. Coconut is wonderful for your skin, but it doesn’t just moisturize it. You can also use coconut oil to help minimize your dark eye circles. You need just a little bit of coconut oil in its melted form to rub directly underneath your eyes where you have the dark eye circles. Rub in a clockwise motion, then go the opposite direction. You can try this at night before bed and just let it sit on your skin.

Give Sweet Almond Oil a Try

Another oil that can be used on your dark eye circles is sweet almond oil. If you frequently use essential oils, you might have this at home to be used as a carrier oil. The oil can also be applied on its own right on your skin, and let it dry into the skin to lighten the dark circles. Use this in the morning before applying makeup or at night to put on before bed. This is similar to using vitamin E oil, since it contains this vitamin right in the oil.

How to Prevent Dark Eye Circles

Don’t forget to keep practicing preventative methods to prevent dark eye circles. This includes always using a moisturizer and sunscreen on your skin, and trying to get plenty of sleep at night. The better you sleep, the less dark circles and puffiness your eyes will have.

Start a New Natural Beauty Routine

olive oil

Summer is the perfect time for a new natural beauty routine. This should include using natural ingredients, paying more attention to how you care for your skin and hair, and sticking to the routine on a daily basis. Here are some ideas for starting a brand new natural beauty routine for the summer season and the rest of the year.

Exfoliate Your Entire Body

Instead of just exfoliating your face, why not scrub your entire body? This is great to do as a new natural beauty routine, especially during the summer. It will leave all your skin feeling and looking refreshed, as well as being nice and soft. To start with, you can use a body scrub of natural ingredients. Combine any type of sugar or salt with oil like olive oil or coconut oil, and add some essential oils. This is the easiest way to have a body exfoliator. You can also start using a dry brush and buff the skin with it. Dry brushing has tons of health benefits.

Rinse Your Hair With Apple Cider Vinegar

For your hair care routine, now is the perfect time to try some new natural products. One great product to use on your hair is apple cider vinegar. This just provides a simple risk that will clean your hair and help to remove buildup or dandruff from your scalp. It can also add some shine to your hair. Dilute the vinegar with the same amount of water, then add it to your hair, rinsing well in the shower. If you want a better scent, try some essential oils.

Make a Yogurt and Oatmeal Mask

To start a new beauty routine, you don’t want to forget about your face. This is a good time to use a mask about once a week. You can make your own with just oatmeal and plain yogurt, providing all you need to moisturize your skin. The oatmeal is also going to exfoliate it in a gentle way. Mix these ingredients together and rub the mask on your face, letting it sit for about 10 minutes. Rinse it off with cool water.

Make sure using sunscreen is always a part of your beauty routine! This protects your skin from sun damage, as well as helping to keep away premature fine lines and wrinkles, which is often the result of too much sun without protection.

Natural DIY Exfoliating Recipes

lemons

Natural DIY exfoliating is one of the best things you can do for your skin. You have dead skin cells that might sit on the surface of your skin because they are not being scrubbed off. They can also clog your pores, making it hard to minimize pores no matter how hard you try. Here are some natural exfoliating products you can make right at home.

Lemon and Honey Face Scrub

This first exfoliating recipe is one you can customize for your own needs, but the basic items are listed. This is an exfoliating scrub that uses sugar, so it is going to be gentle on your skin. If you need something with more exfoliating power, then you can replace the sugar with salt. For this scrub, start with regular white table sugar, then add some oil to it. You can use olive oil, jojoba oil, or coconut oil. When this is mixed, add in just a little bit of honey, aiming for the same amount as your oil. Then add in juice of one lemon. This should make a little over a cup of scrub. Use the scrub on your face, leave it for a few minutes, then rinse well.

Lavender and Vanilla Body Scrub

The next exfoliating recipe is a body scrub, helping to remove dead skin cells and leave behind the softest skin you have ever had. This is great for pampering with the sweet smell of vanilla and relaxing nature of the lavender. This scrub uses both sugar and Epsom salt, but you can switch it out with sea salt if you want something a bit coarser. Add in some lavender essential oils, a carrier oil like jojoba oil, then some vanilla extract for added scent. If you want this lavender body scrub to be purple, add in some food coloring as well.

Honey Brown Sugar Scrub

This exfoliator can be used on your face or your body, depending on where you need it. Instead of white sugar, try using some brown sugar. It is softer and a little less coarse. However, if you don’t have it, you can always use white sugar. You then want to add in some raw honey and essential oils. The oils are optional, but add a nice scent to the scrub. If it is hard to mix the sugar and honey, use a little olive oil in it as well.
